Customer Editorials regarding refurbished productsThe best deal
The best way to know how well any electronic item works is to use it. You can go buy a new game console or get a refurbished one. All electronics have cliches and little thing that can go wrong. A lot of times you buy a new electronic device, whether it is a game console or a phone you will be be the one that has all the cliches and minor problems. When this happens you will have to either get it fixed or return it to the store you purchased it at. If you return it to the store all you can do is hold your breathe that they will exchange it. If they do exchange it then you have to hold your breathe and hope the same problem doesn’t appear in the other new one. If you get it repaired you feel like you are paying for it again. Financially it is not feasible to have a new electronic item repaired. It is different if you have used it for a while and it messes up on you. At least then you feel like you have got some benefit from your purchase . No one wants to feel like they have been taken whether it is financially or any other way. You may get ahold or a good electronic item the first time. I am not saying all items are unstable but when you deal with electronic devices there is always a chance of getting that one that is unstable. When you purchase a game console or a phone you plan and expect to use it for a while before it lets you down. A good example of unstable items is the common gas weed Eater. We have went through several gas weed eaters in the past. Sometimes several a year. They would start acting up tthen stop all together. We finally purchased a refurbished one. We where skeptical at first but is was such a good deal we could not pass it up. This refurbished weed eater turned out to be the best weed eater we ever owned! It lasted for years and years. When we finally retired it, it had nothing to do with the engine but it had to do with the shaft and the starter button. We actually wanted to find someone to fix it. We finally found another refurbished week eater and using it to this day. When you purchase a refurbished game console it has already been thru the cliches and small problems. That is how it became refurbished in the first place. Someone like you had bought it, took it home and went thru the agony of it messing up and going down on them for you. That make buy any electronic item worth checking out if it has been refurbished. When a electronic item goes through a the process of being refurbished it is gone through and all the cliches fixed along with new electronics installed. This makes it the safest bet when buying a game console or a any electrics. When you put out your hard earned money for anything whether it is electronic or not you want it to work and give you the pleasure of using it without worrying about problems occurring. We all work hard for our money. I am sure there are people out there that can afford to take a chance. I am grateful for these people. The give us that do not have money to burn the opportunity to purchase thing like game console or a expensive electronic item we normally would not take a chance on. I would recommend ,unless you just have to have a new item, you purchase a refurbished electrics or weed eater in our case. The pro of buying new electronic item are there also. If you purchase a new electronic item you would be the only one to have played it. You would have the pleasure of being the only owner. of your electronic item. Sometime when you buy a refurbished item you don’t receive all the paperwork with it or maybe even some extras that are offered with new items. Sometime they offer perks and special offers in the new items paperwork. I would recommend if you are going with the new game console or electronic item make sure wherever you purchase it is a reputable company or store. A lot of stories offer replacement warranty for your new game console or electronic. It would probably save you a lot of trouble and headaches if you purchase this warranty. It all depends on your preference as which way you go on your purchase. Either way you want to enjoy your items. If something does go wrong with your new game console or electronic item it may just delay your enjoyment. That is one thing you need to consider when purchasing your game console or electronic item. Are you willing to take a chance on being without it for a while. Chances are good that you would get th game console or electronic item that does not have a problem. Why take a chance if you do not have to. There are things out there that not wise to buy refurbished. On a personal bases I would not buy any kitchen items that have been refurbished. To me they would not be safe. I am very picky about anything that prepares or touches our food. There are so many ways of you getting sick and possibly passing away over food prep. There are too many germs and bacteria out there to take any unnecessary chances. I look at it as my family depends on me to keep them safe at all cost. Part of taking care of your family is making sure, if at all possible, that their meals are prepared in a safe manner. Never take a chance on making everyone sick or possible death to save a little money. Your family should be more important to you then money is. If they are not then you have a big problem. If this is the case you need to rethink your priorities that is for sure. I think it is great that companies like refurbished warehouses gives people opportunities to own game console or other electronic items that they may not otherwise be able to purchase.
Whether you go with a new electronic item or a refurbished electronic item is all up to you. There are reasons to go with the new game console or electronic item. There are reasons to go with the refurbished game console or electronic item. One of the big reason for any purchase whether it is electronic game console or electronic item or even you daily pitches of food and household item is financially motivated. A lot of people can not go out and lay down 300 to 500 for the item they want. It maybe a game console or something as simple as a phone. Sometime we want what we cannot afford if you are in that situation you need to check out a refurbished purchase. They make it possible for even the poor person to enjoy the fruits of their labor. You can work and work and pay all your bill but we all need some joy in our lives. For some people it maybe something as simple as a game console or a electronic item to fill in the time we have free. Joy and happiness is different for everyone. One person may need something as simple as a book to while away the hours. For another person it maybe playing a game on a game console or on their phone. Phone have got so high tech you can do anything on them. It is still not the same as holding a controller in your hand. You can become a part of the game this way. This takes you away from the hustle and stress of everyday life. Life is stressful enough without adding to the stress with a game console or electronic item that messes up on you. The more I write the more I want to recommend the refurbished game console or electronic item. You are talking less stress and less chances of doing without your game console or electronic item for a period while it is being fixed or you are trying to save up for a new one. Nothing in life is perfect or without risks. If you can decrease the possible risk why would you not? Pros and cons of buying refurbished iPhone
Do you like having money in your pocket? Do you prefer to own like-new electronics such as an iPhone? Well there you go. You just answered the question of “Should you buy a refurbished iPhone or opt for a new iPhone?” Simply put, refurbished is as good as a new phone.
Refurbished phones are those that are returned to the store for any old reason the previous owner thought of. It could have been something simple such as they did not like the color because it reminded them of the Aunt Hazel's pea soup. Or possibly something a little more serious such as a faulty battery. Whatever the reason, one an iPhone is returned to the store, it is sent out for refurbishing. It is put through a rigorous refurbishing process where all hardware and software is checked, replaced, and rechecked until all parts are up to “new phone” standards. Why not save a few hundred dollars while getting the phone of your dreams. In fact, your head should be checked if you pay full price for an iPhone. While Apple does not broadcast refurbished phones far and wide, they do exist. With a little research, you will find that a refurbished iPhone equals $250 saved.
The refurbishing process is easy to explain, however, it is not so easy for these iPhones to fly through. Initially, the phone will get an examination to determine the problem with this particular phone. If any component of the phone is red flagged, then the part is either fixed or replaced with a brand new part. This device will be re-tested until all systems are in alignment with that of an iPhone. If there was any cosmetic damage, you can be sure it was replaced. When hardware is up to par, it is time to turn our eyes on the software side of things. The I phone will then be wiped if data from the previous owner and with a stock version of OS t be re-installed. And badda-bing- badda-boom, you got yourself a new iPhone with a refurbished label, available for sale for between $200 and $250 less than a new iPhone.
The pros of buying refurbished are more than you think. Obviously, number one here is the savings of about $250. Who here does not like that deal? I, myself, just snooped around the Apple store and found an iMac with retina 5k display with 1TB regular retail price$1999 but refurbis6hed price $1699. That is a $300 savings for what will be a new iMac. As the prices get higher with the latest releases, so do the savings. Apple is not a store that has great deals on their gear, so to find a loophole such as this is something to take advantage of in the near future.
Time for my favorite pro, the warranty. All refurbished Apple products will come with a 1 year warranty. This covers any manufacturers defects. If you want apple support that is an extra cost. Apple does offer a gurantee on their refurbished phones that says they offer a “fully functional unit with complete documentation.” If any compartment on your iPhone is not fully functional, Apple (with manufacturers warranty) will replace, clean, and repackage any certified refurbished iPhone. It is this gurantee that has me sold on the idea of a refurbished iPhone.
You got to take the good with the bad so, there are some cons worth mentioning when buying refurbished. Apple does not offer an extended warranty with their refurbished phones. What you get is a standard limited warranty which really translates (to me) that they are confident in their refurbishment and do not think an extended warranty is necessary. Take that as a con if you must. Also, buying refurbished from Apple does not buy you the newest phones they have to offer. If I were to buy a refurbished iPhone today, I would probably find phones from 2015 or 2016 so take notice. The savings with Apple iPhones can be great, but most times the deals are just ok. You really got to committed and focused on finding a deal. Be prepared to search high and low and daily to find that precious deal.
Gazelle is the best place to buy refurbished without getting ripped off. After some research it is clear that Gazelle is the place. Carrier make the ordeal very confusing for the consumer, resulting in some people spending what they don’t have and others buying what they don’t need. Gazelle, once a cash for phones operation, now offers you a library of phones some unlocked, others carrier branded. These are phone from top manufacturers with some of the lowest prices for service and topped off with easy to understand terms. You can sell your phone for cash quick from the comfort of your home, using their website. This feature keeps you from long lines at the Apple store on a busy day, which is everyday.
A close 2nd and 3rd place are eBay and Amazon. The difference here is that your most likely buying from another consumer versus a business. This arena tends to have some crooks thus they invented the dispute center. Resolution centers , on average, side with the buyer; so seller beware. eBay has partnered up with PayPal. Rest assured, if you someone gets your money and you are unhappy, PayPal sees to it, that you get your money back. I speak from experience on that note.
Some other tips when shopping for a refurbished iPhone: ask to inspect the phone. A visual look-over at the phone in question may give you a clue into other bigger problems. Look for scratches on the touch screen or camera. An important thing to check is the water damage sensor. As the name suggests, this will alert you to whether that phone has been wet. Take the time to check to see that the phone is unlocked. A quick call to your carrier to double check that they can activate your phone will save you a possible headache later. Also, check the storage capacity to see if it is a right fit for you. Refurbished iPhones are older models with less storage. If you were expecting 256 GB, you will be in for a surprise when you get your iPhone home and realize there is only 16 GB of storage space. And lastly, check the battery. iPhone users are not able to change their own batteries, so it is important to ask some questions about the battery before you buy. A good rule of thumb, if the phone is older than a year, you should have the battery checked.Confidence in Refurbished then New
In some people's minds, refurbs or faulty products hastily pushed on to the next consumer “rejects"! But in many cases, refurbished electronics are a great steal,"good as new" computers, TVs, stereos, mobile devices, etc. That cost much less and last at least as long. The key to buying refurbished electronics without having problems is knowing where to look and doing a bit of research. Refurbished don't not always mean a bad thing Sometimes when people returns a product for a refund without even opening the box or the item at all. There's nothing wrong with it, but the item can't be sold as new and has to be offered as a refurbished product, often at a deep discount "around 15 to 30 percent". Just buy it from the manufacturer or reputable dealer and with a long warranty to cover any problems. Then enjoy your savings and products.Anything that’s described as “used” has been in the possession of the customer for a long time. Well if you are going to buy a new product then this is the little different in them refurbished and new really. The new products are there notessed up and it not been handle so such or someone bought two of and then only wanted one and it went back. On the other hand buying new is a good thing too. That’s the safest way to make sure that you’re getting your money’s worth on a product that hasn’t been shipped and handled a load of times. Also, you get the fullest warranty and support package you can get. But if you’re strapped for cash and want to save a bit of money, you can buy refurbished models. Also is want cost a fortune and brake you so bad.Buy Refurbished!
Why should anyone buy a refurbished product? Are “refurbished” products really up to the same standard as their brand-new counterparts? Are they even marginally so? “How much confidence should I have in the process of refurbishing?” How much confidence ought a buyer have in the value of a refurbished product? If the refurbishing is accomplished with care and concern for the seller’s reputation, then one can be confident that such purchases are some of the best-kept secrets on the market today. Why pay the full price of a new item when you can get essentially the same product for much much less? The tremendous power of marketing is one of the only major obstacles standing in the way of the growth of a market for refurbished products in 1st world countries. Do not let yourself be fooled. A refurbished product has merely lost its price tag, not the essential aspects of its performance capability. It would be great for the consumer side of the economy if buyers accustomed themselves to saving their cash while still getting on with their lives and enjoying the best of what the tech world has to offer.
Here are some points to consider when thinking about buying refurbished products. Hopefully looking into these will show how confident customers should be when considering refurbished products.
• You can save significant funds by passing on the limited excitement of owning a new product by purchasing one that is guaranteed to work well but is in its second life as a cherished product. There are similarities to be found in nearly every industry. Often he who buys a new product pays a premium just for the ability to say he bought it new. In the case of an iPhone, iPad, mp3 player, or even a two-way radio, the benefits of trusting the refurbishment are evident especially in the purchase price.
• The ownership of a refurbished product can be extremely rewarding on so many levels. Instead of just letting a good product go to the dump after its first blip in performance, why not get it refurbished? Even if you just want to sell it again, at least it regains much of its value by being professionally restored.
• If you trust the company with making the product, why not trust them to professionally refurbish it? The same product can then be bought for a better price and the performance is still going to be excellent. If more people had basic common sense, the purchasing of refurbished goods would go through the roof. Everyone likes saving money. If you can manage to do that without sacrificing brand quality or functioning power, then it doesn’t make sense to spend more for what is almost literally the same thing.
• Purchasing refurbished products is a great and cheap way for giving out business devices for one’s employees. Why get all new products when you can get high quality replacements for the discounted price that naturally follows the title “refurbished”? It is hard to see the downside in acquiring or using refurbished products for the manifold tasks of daily life. Most refurbished goods come with money-back guarantees that rival the warranties of new products. Again, this aids the confidence that the consumer should have when approaching refurbished items.
• Thanks to the long track record and continued success of refurbished products, the consumer should be confident that he is getting a great deal for an excellent product. One should think twice before buying new. Why not take a look at the cheaper alternative? Often it comes from the same place after all.
o There aren’t many negatives when it comes to refurbished goods. Given the reputation at stake for the professional in refurbishing, the consumer can be confident that he is taking a far lower risk than the seller. Besides, if you have a nice product, it is a nice product. Enough said. It will look and act like a new product. Often this is because the item was hardly used, but still received professional inspection and optimization. High end products are built to last as it is. You might as well let some other consumer pay for the top 15% that comes simply with the word “new” and then pay what the product is really worth after it has come back in guaranteed working order.
o While there is always the outside chance that a refurbished product will not make it as long as a new one, so long as you make sure to look into the warranty before purchasing refurbished products, you will not get burned. Reputable dealers will always stand by their work. They are in the business of winning your confidence for now and for the future.
So, buy refurbished!!!Refurbised vs new
There are many things we deal with when it comes electronic devices in this day and age. The biggest one is cellphones, in which we could connect to one another while we are on the go or away from each other. Then as we advance through the years with cellphones creators have made it where we can now get on the internet with our cellphones. There are many makes and models of cellphones. One of the biggest companies of cellphones is apple iPhone, where a price of a brand-new phone could range you from $900 up to $1200. Then you do also have another option where you can get a refurbished iPhone at half the price or maybe less. We are going to take a look at the pros and cons between a new phone and a refurbished phone.
The first thing the pros about the new phone. The new phone comes packed up with all accessories that are need, plus a set of earphones to listen to music on your device. The other thing is that a new iPhone comes with a 12-month warranty or more depending on who your phone provider is. The next thing is that when you buy you can always go to your phone provider if you need help with it. The phone provider usually tries to help you out best as possible and if they can’t help, they will tell you that you would have to contact Apple to solve your problems. Then the other thing about a new phone is that you have all your instructions on how to use your new phone. There not many cons about a new phone but I believe that the price would be one, due to phones are really expensive to buy.
Now we are going to talk about the refurbished iPhone pros. There are a few pros about the refurbished phone which is that they are a lot cheaper in price than a new one. The other is you can get a refurbished one-off line at amazon, eBay, and other sites that sell them. They usually have a warranty on refurbished phones, but they are like 30 days usually. Then you would have to find out if your phone can be used under your phone provider, and that could be a problem if they can't. There are many cons though like your warranty, your device might not be compatible with your provider, you might only get your phone in where you would have to purchase a charger.
“The Pros and Cons of Refurbished vs Used iPhone
With a used iPhone it can be purchased/sold. The owner of the device and has been used for three years, there are two things that arises if they want to sell it , The first one used iPhone can be sold to other people or the second thing it could be return to the cell phone provider to be refurbished and sold. A refurbished or reconditioned iPhone is a used cell phone sent to get all the bugs or defects taking care of and is almost like a new phone. The phone may have problems with working or whether there was a small detail with it. This may occur because the phone was still under warranty is intact. In this article writing by (Patel) they believe these devices are just as good as a new iPhone. The device is checked by a person and not (only) by machine in where machines are rolling thousands of iPhones each day of, that a man does not and ensures everything is perfect or not. There are a lot people have dreams to own an iPhone, where reconditioned iPhone makes their dream come true because they are very economically affordable.” (Patel)
So, as we look at all the pros and cons about the new phone and the refurbished phone, we can determine that the new phone is good to get, because it is new. The only bad thing about the new phone is that it is very costly. The refurbished is a good phone if you are wanting to pay less but you have to take in consideration you don't get all the perks as if you were getting a new one.
“The Pros of a refurbished phone is that they have been professionally checked and repaired, unlike a typical second-hand phone. The second thing is there will be a warranty period (for a certain amount of time, where you should check on how long). It’s more affordable if you want to have a less restrictive SIM-only or pay-as-you-go contract. The company has to wipe any data left by the previous owner or have risk falling foul of the Data Protection Act.
The Cons are that you'll have to wait for the next model to be released, as there are unlikely to be many on the refurbished phones in the market and it may take a few months before one becomes available. The second thing is that it is hard to insure the phone, but there are some insurers that will happily cover a refurbed phone, so it's worth shopping around. The warranty will almost certainly be shorter the phone. The phone could have scratches and scuff marks. (Shargall)”
I have looked at two web articles talking the pros and cons on new and refurbished iPhone. The refurbished is a good way to go if you are trying to save money right now. Thought the new phone probably could save you money if your phone messed up with-in the one year warranty period. Therefore they are both good ways to go depending on what you want to pay for. The new one can also be paid on the phone contract depending on your phone provider, but when you usually go under contract with your phone provider you have to have good credit to even get the phone. The refurbished one you would have to make sure that you can unlock the phone to be used on your phone provider. This time of age we are trying to find the way where it could save the consumer money in the long run. They offer a lot of new phone plans and warrantys through most of your provideres, as your provider doesn’t offer as much on refurbished phones. If you Want a refurbuished yoou would have to go online to a refurbished electronics site to purchase, then you would have to find out if your provider can put it on there plan.

Let’s begin with the sparkling unopened package of a new iPhone. The thrill and satisfaction that runs through the customer is paralleled only by those similar experiences of waiting a long time in anticipation for a flashy and useful device. Novelty has its own appeal and for some aficionados, nothing but new will suffice or satisfy. With that opening scene in mind, let’s look to some of the pro’s and then some of the con’s of purchasing and using a brand-new iPhone.
- The owner of a brand-new iPhone has just purchased some legitimate street cred. He can’t be called “cheap” by his friends and the ownership of that unique device is solely and completely his.
- Every possibility is open before the owner of a new iPhone. The battery life, processor life, app selection, screen quality, and external aesthetic will never be better than they are when that box is first opened. One might be tempted to celebrate just this simple opening event.
- A new iPhone will have a maximal warranty and can easily be protected further with all of the wonderful products available these days. From screen protectors to skins, the world is your oyster with the newly purchased iPhone. No need to worry that the “refurbishing” may have been faulty. No need to worry if it does break down quickly. Apple will stand by its new products and their customer service is second to none.
- All of the Apple software and latest app updates are easily handled by your new iPhone. This is not necessarily the case for an older “refurbished” or “used” iPhone. Instead of hoping that maybe you can include all the apps you want at fantastic processing speed, you can rest assured that your phone is at the cutting edge of the technological arms race among smartphone manufacturers.
- $$$$$$$$$ unless you tie yourself into a hefty phone plan that reduces the initial cost, these new iPhones will set you back a pretty penny. You get what you pay for. True. However, isn’t there some other way to get the same quality without the “NEW” price tag?
- Money isn’t everything, but to get the privilege of owning a brand-new iPhone, one needs to be willing to part with a significant sum. Plus, the phone plans that maximize the capabilities of your new computing and cellular power aren’t exactly free. If you want your new iPhone to exercise its fullest powers, then you are going to have to foot not only a possibly large initiating investment, but you’ll need to fork out the dough month after month after month. C’est la vie in the world of top technology.
- A new iPhone may outperform its refurbished counterpart, but then again it might not. Sometimes one can find basically new iPhones that are actually used, but still work well and are about half the cost. This is a similar phenomenon to the automotive industry. As soon as you drive that new car off the lot, about 30% of its value stayed behind at the dealer’s. So, pick and choose what you like, but the cost and value analysis is probably the biggest drawback to going in for the brand-new iPhone.
What exactly is a refurbished product? How much better is it than a plain old “used” product that one can find on eBay or Craigslist or any other discount site on the internet? The underlying concern behind these questions from prospective buyers is: “How much is my trust in a manufacturer’s repairs worth?” How much confidence ought a buyer have in the durability, functionality, and value of a refurbished product? In this case, a refurbished iPhone...
- $$$$$ You can save significant dough by foregoing the illusory pleasures of owning a brand-new product by purchasing one that the manufacturer guarantees is in good working order. This is similar to buying a gently used and still relatively new vehicle from a reputable car dealer. In the case of an iPhone, the benefits of trusting the refurbishment are evident in the purchase price.
- The ownership of a refurbished phone can be very rewarding on many levels. One lives with the cognizance that one has helped to save planet earth from the additional hazardous waste of technological trash and one aids the community by saving more of one’s money for things that help the local economy. Instead of everyone sending their hard-earned savings off to Apple all the time, they can spend the money they save on more local needs and that will help everyone in the long run (including Apple).
- If one trusts the manufacturer with making the new product, why not trust professional refurbishment? The same basic product is acquired for a lower price and the performance is still most likely going to be top notch. There are no more words for how much sense this makes. If there were more folks in touch with such common sense, the refurbished market would be the only way to go for those for whom budget is actually a concern.
- Refurbished is a legitimate and resource-saving way for providing business communication devices for one’s employees. Why get all new products when you can get good-as-new for the discounted price that naturally comes with the title “refurbished”? In many ways, it is hard to see the downside in acquiring or using a refurbished product. Especially if the refurbishing company backs their products, what have you got to lose?
- Thanks to the long track record and continued success of refurbished products, the customer can be very confident that he is getting a good deal for the quality. Just as one should probably never buy a new car, so one should think twice or three times before buying new products over well-refurbished ones.
- There aren’t many cons. If the refurbisher is the manufacturer or a professional refurbishing outfit, then the customer might as well treat the item as though it were new. Especially when it comes to Apple products like the iPhone, their longevity is market-best and there is very little reason to be worried about saving money.
- There is the outside chance that a refurbished product will not make it as long as a new one, but make sure to look into the warranty before purchasing refurbished iPhones. If the seller is worth his salt, he will offer a guarantee to back the authenticity of the refurbishing process.
I hope that this article has been a helpful guide for one who is considering purchasing an iPhone.Refurbished Phone v. New Phone
If you desire a new phone but your pocket book can only handle a used phone, then refurbished is the way to go. However, consumers are not aware what refurbished means. If they did, everyone would buy refurbished. Discount prices offered for a phone that, for all intents and purposes, is absolutely new. Understanding the process behind what makes a returned phone a refurbished one is an interesting ordeal that may surprise the consumer.
There are numerous reasons why a phone has taken on the title of refurbished. For instance, display phones, you know the ones that hundreds or thousands of people touch everyday. Yes, those phones are eventually sent off to go through the refurbishing process and then sent back to a store for consumer purchase. Many times, phones are retuned by the consumer for any number of reasons from the phone was too big, to the wrong color , to plain just don't like it. As long as these phones are returned within the free returns window, which is usually thirty days, the store must accept the return. These unwanted phones are quickly sent off for the refurbishing process. Another reason for refurbishing a phone is due to defects. Faulty screens or batteries are good candidates for refurbishment. So, what is the refurbishing process consist of?
The first step in this process is the same as a patient visiting their doctor; an examination is given. An in depth look into each component of the phone is done, leaving no part unchecked. An examination of the phone will give the technician all the answers (s)he needs to begin repairs on the phone. If anything part is found to be faulty, it is either professionally fixed or replaced with a brand new part. After this, the phone is re-examined until all components meet the high standards of a new phone. In this step, the phone is cleaned and any worn exterior parts are replaced to reflect a new phone look.
Once the hardware is equal to that of a new phone, it is time to turn focus to the software. Technicians wipe all previous data clean from the phone. To finish the process, stock version operating system software is reinstalled to make the phone like new. A truly refurbished phone will not only look like new , it will also run like new.
Most refurbished phones will come with a warranty. The length of the warranty will depend on where the phone was refurbished. A manufacturers warranty will give you a full years coverage where a store warranty will last anywhere between 30 and 90 days. Buying refurbished will get you the same tech support you would have with a new phone for any of your day to day questions and/or inquiries. However, to receive tech support help you would have to purchase the phone through the original manufacture and the model must be current and not discontinued.
Summing up, refurbished phones are just like new phones because they have gone through a process where there hardware and software function according to the high standards of a band new phone. After going through two separate checks, (the original new phone check then the refurbished phone check) it is almost guaranteed to have all bugs worked out making the refurbished phone a little better than a new phone. Rest assured consumers, buying refurbished is the deal of the century. Pros and Cons of a Refurbished iPhone
Pros and Cons of a Refurbished iPhone
Everyone loves an iPhone, but the price can be prohibitive to many consumers. One way to help obtain the coveted iPhone without paying the exorbitant price is to purchase a refurbished phone. There are several pros and cons to purchasing an iPhone. Each consumer must examine the pros and cons to determine if a refurbished iPhone is a plausible option.
First, the main bonus of buying a refurbished iPhone is that it is cost effective and more pocketbook friendly. An iPhone can cost more than a laptop computer, and often costs more than the monthly salary of many workers. For those who would benefit most from an iPhone, the cost is often beyond their reach. College students would greatly benefit from the quick internet access, the larger size screen, the benefit of a phone to call home combined with a computer (especially if buying both are out of the question), and the automatic synchronization to calendars. Let’s face it, iPhones are nice, but those going to school on a tight budget simply cannot pay full price for one. They would be better off buying a cheaper laptop, which is better for doing their writing assignments, than dishing out almost a grand for a phone that will be outdated in mere months. Teenagers also want the prestige of having an iPhone. Young adults just starting their careers cannot justify paying full price for the iPhone when they can barely pay for food and utilities. However, the refurbished phones render the iPhone more readily accessible.
One may be distrustful of buying a refurbished phone. After all, refurbished means the item may be pre-owned and returned to the store for some sort of defect. The hardware may have malfunctioned. Some soldering may be loose. Who knows?! For whatever reason, a previous customer had problems with that phone, enough so to warrant them returning it to the manufacturer. Why would anyone want to buy a phone that is known to have had a flaw? Simple, refurbished also means to make as new. According to the Apple website (1), the refurbished phone goes through the same rigorous process to be put on the market as a new phone. They practically guarantee it to be “as new.” If you are worried that it has a chance of having a flaw, just think that apparently some of the new phones have flaws, too! The refurbished will be repackaged in a new box and will come with the same warranty as a new phone would. Also, the outside covering as well as the battery will be replaced before being resold. It will literally be just as good as new.
Another reason to consider trusting a refurbished phone is that oftentimes the phones are sent back to the manufacturer because they simply were not sold. Of course, with the high cost of Apple products, there will be some that are not purchased, depending on the economy. Another reason they may not have sold is that a new phone is already out. Many people will not buy the older model for full price when it is practically obsolete. These new-in-box phones are shipped back to apple where they cannot be sold as new (because they were literally returned from a retail store).
To sum it up, the best reasons to buy a refurbished iPhone are that they are more affordable than a brand-new iPhone, they have been retested by Apple and given a new case and battery, and they have the same warranty as a new iPhone. This is a viable option, especially for those on a budget.
There are few reasons to avoid refurbished iPhones. The main reason one would not buy a refurbished iPhone would be that the newest models may not be available as refurbished phones yet. If you want to have the newest, most updated iPhone, you probably need to get a new one; it will be almost obsolete by the time a refurbished one is available. A second concern that was mentioned on a question and answer site (2) is that the refurbished may be less waterproof and more prone to dust since it has been worked on. Other concerns may be that it will just “break” again. Some may not come with a warranty. I’ve heard many people complain about not being able to “unlock” the phone. Also, some phones are programmed for specific carriers and are not compatible with a different cell phone service. These are all legitimate concerns when buying a used phone. However, these issues will not arise with a manufacturer refurbished iPhone.
When buying a refurbished iPhone, consider the source. The most reliable source would probably be the manufacturer themselves. As mentioned earlier, when buying a refurbished iPhone for Apple, they are practically “new” complete with warranty, new case and new battery. If buying from elsewhere, buyer beware! You need to really research the dealer before purchasing a refurbished phone. Is customer feedback available? Do they offer a warranty? Did they fix it with certified Apple parts?
The VoIP Insider website (3) has made a checklist of things to look for when purchasing a refurbished phone. First, they say to consider the price. Is it competitive? Is it within your budget? And how does the price compare to that of a new phone?
The second consideration listed is the condition. Whereas an iPhone refurbished by Apple really is essentially “new,” one purchased elsewhere may be visibly “used.” This site has broken down the iPhone into three “grades” such as with eggs. Grade A refurbished phones are the new returns or have very little wear. Grade B phones have some wear or scratches. Grade C phones definitely look used (and apparently nothing has been done to help them look “new.”
The third factor listed is “upgrade.” Often a refurbished phone is outdated and the system cannot handle various things. For example, some older iPhones (whether “new-in-the-box” or not) are not compatible with the new Pokemon Go upgrade. If gaming is one of the reasons for getting a phone, make sure it is compatible with the current system and current versions of games played.
As mentioned previously, some iPhones come with a warranty. When purchasing an iPhone, find out if it comes with a warranty and what the warranty is. Find out what is covered? Is it a full warranty or a limited warranty?
The last consideration mentioned on the VoIP Insider website (3) is support. Is someone available to offer tech support if needed? Apple does offer tech support for their manufacturer refurbished iPhones (1).
In conclusion, refurbished can be a good thing or not. Determine the source and consider the points mentioned. Buying refurbished can be a happy experience.

First things first, the iPhone has been around for years and as far as products go it has been the most desired phone on the market for some time. Of course, being the top brand means it comes with the top prices making one purchase extremely expensive and are hardly ever on sale. Luckily there is not just new iPhones on the market, we are lucky enough to have refurbished products that can easily be purchased for prices that are a lot cheaper. These refurbished products are also supposedly just as great as the new products themselves.
Now one thing you will want to do when it comes to iPhones is to be sure that wherever you do buy a refurbished iPhone is to be sure that it is not a stolen one that has been refurbished. Apple actually prevents stolen iPhones from being activated by new users. So, if you are looking to buy a refurbished iPhone you really do not want to be buying it from someone that claims to have completely refurbished, restored, repaired, or whatever they claim to have done. So, let’s hope that one does not come across someone selling stolen goods on eBay or Facebook, otherwise they could be out of a phone and a decent amount of money. Now that is something you would not have to worry about when buying a brand-new iPhone. You could easily get an iPhone where you would be at peace knowing it had come straight from Apple itself with a brand-new battery, which is extremely important seeing as the batteries for iPhones cannot be changed. You also would not have to worry about the phone being stolen and it would be quite easy to activate your new phone seeing as you would be the first person to use the phone.
Speaking of places and providers to purchase a refurbished iPhone, it is always important that you make sure that the provider/retailer you choose to purchase the desired refurbished iPhone from is one that is well known and reliable. Some even allow you to do monthly payments, which would save you even more money than even having to buy a new iPhone on a monthly contract, which is one benefit that trumps over buying a new iPhone. Apple themselves even offer refurbished iPhones at times, but not always. Some companies like “NextWorth and Gazelle,… often offer a quality guarantee and protection plan.” This easily makes buying a used or refurbished iPhone obtainable if you do not care for the brand-new iPhone, or simply know that refurbished is just as great as buying a new one; it’s just a matter of difference in price.
Now I have yet to really talk about breaking down the price difference between buying a refurbished iPhone versus buying a brand-new iPhone. On www.refurb.me there was a comparison done for both refurbished iPhone X versus the brand-new iPhone X “According to RefurbMe’s listing of refurbished iPhone X prices, you can currently purchase a refurbished iPhone X for just $749 with free shipping. This particular listing has been tested, data wiped and validated at GameStop’s Refurbishment Center, comes with new wires (including charging cables and earbuds), and also has a warranty.” Now when it came to buying the brand-new iPhone X the price is posted at $999, that’s $250 more than the refurbished iPhone X. It’s not even clear as to whether or not it comes with charging cables, which I’m sure it does, but that does not mean it would come with headphones; meaning that you would have to invest in buying the specific Bluetooth headphones required for the iPhone X and that means you are spending over $1000 when a refurbished iPhone X would easily be under $1000 with accessories.
According to the website there are many similar prices for the older models too and there are still many differences in price, all of which have the refurbished iPhones winning out in price.
Now on regards to the price for both the refurbished iPhone and brand-new iPhone there is the form of payment. According to www.refurb.me when purchasing a refurbished iPhone you pay the full price upfront without a contracted payment plan, unlike buying a new iPhone where you can either buy it for full price upfront or actually have a contracted payment for small payments a month, which in the end ends up being more expensive than the refurbished iPhone. Although some people do prefer having a payment plan over paying a large amount of money at once, making it slightly easier each month financially for some people.
There are also some differences with warranties as well. Most retailers give a 30-day warranty with purchase of a refurbished iPhone. Now you can extend the warranty, but it would cost more. However, when purchasing a brand-new iPhone from Apple itself, your iPhone comes with a one-year limited warranty, which easily outdoes the 30-day warranty. Then again with the price difference between a refurbished and brand-new iPhone, it would almost be like spending more for an extended warranty. However, if your iPhone does end up having problems you would be better off with a one- year limited warranty so you are not out of all the money you spent and stuck with a broken iPhone within the first year of purchasing it.
There is also the matter of obtaining a brand-new iPhone on opening day. It would be a lot easier to get a brand-new iPhone than a refurbished iPhone if that were the case, especially if there was a high demand in the new iPhone. Then again you really wouldn’t have to wait to long for those with buyer’s remorse to return their new iPhones to get a refurbished one.
In the end it looks like the best option for whether buying a new or refurbished iPhone is the refurbished iPhone. It saves one money and you will not be stuck into a contract. You will be free to do what you want with your phone once you have purchased it with all it’s accessories.

With money being such a rare commodity in my house we are never opposed to the idea of refurbished merchandise, especially when it comes with a factory warranty. As fast as technology advances it's impossible for me to keep up. I am doing this assessment in an effort to acquire a refurbished Xbox one because I can not afford to purchase a new one but have a strong desire to be able to play games from time to time. The last Xbox I had was over ten years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed the ability to play games. I have wanted a gaming system for some time and when I came across this offering knew I could finally afford one. The fact that it is refurbished is irrelevant to me, especially when it is coming from a distributor who has included a factory warranty. Many people are not as money conscientious as we are and will purchase new products as soon as they come out on the market from a retail outlets. In our house we tend to wait until either we can find a deal or in some cases, like this one a factory refurbished product. I did the same thing in obtaining my lawn mower. I was looking online on the home depot site and cam across a eight hundred dollar mower that was refurbished on sale for two hundred sixty dollars. It was exactly what I was needing and wanting. That mower has been amazing. It's more powerful than any other mower I have ever owned. It came unassembled in the box just like a new one and after I had everything put together it cranked up immediately. I have used it regularly to cut mine and my neighbors yards without the slightest hitch. If I had not found this refurbished model I would have been reduced to settling for a much less capable and more poorly manufactured product. Now in this situation I'm looking forward to obtaining a refurbished Xbox one and being able to play games like tomb raider, Madden or a racing game, etc. in my free time. I know there are others who are confident in refurbished merchandise also, but I believe that society has this new enablement ideal. Too many people just buy the newest items off the shelf to say they have it. I like to do my research and allow the manufacturer the opportunity to work out any kinks, make upgrades and perfect their products. Refurbished merchandise is exactly that, a product the manufacturer has had the opportunity to have a close look into perfecting their products. I have complete confidence in this refurbished model being everything i could hope for it to be. It's kind of like purchasing a car that has been remodeled and restored. The original version is always demanded, but something was just not right so it is looked over carefully by a professional and all the kinks are identified and then replaced by newer, better parts. The end result is a product that the repair person, and in the case of this gaming console, the manufacturer feel is not only worthy of its name, but also guaranteed to operate perfectly. I actually think this this offer gives me the opportunity to have something better than the new, off the shelf version. I also am more confident because of the manufacturer's warranty.
